The Greater Rape Intervention Programme (GRIP) operates this dedicated care room at the local SAPS station, providing a safe and private space for survivors of rape and gender-based violence to receive immediate support. GRIP first responders assist survivors through the reporting process, offer crisis counselling, and guide them through the criminal justice system. The programme also facilitates referrals to medical treatment, Thuthuzela Care Centres, social workers, and shelter services where survivors can access longer-term support.
